9 July 2005 - EzPlanet One 3.0 build in progress
The EzPlanet One team is working to build the next release of the EzPlanet One platform. EzPlanet One 3.0 is scheduled to be released by August 2005 for both 32 and 64 bits architectures.
2 June 2005 - Kernel 2.6.11.11 released
It took some additional work, but eventually we have a stable 2.6.11.11 release in the update stream.
1 June 2005 - Building EzPlanet One for 64 bits processors
We are building an x86_64 release of EzPlanet One, our new Opteron based server is already at work.
21 May 2005 - Several updates released
Postgresql 8.0.3, MySQL 4.1.11, Firefox 1.0.4, php 5.0.4, dovecot (IMAP) 0.99-14, and others released in the update stream (use: "yum update"). In addition we have released kernel 2.6.11-105 (EzPlanet One build 105) corresponding to 2.6.11.10 in the EzPlanet One development stream http://ftp.ezplanetone.com/pub/development/2.0/i386/RPMS.
16 May 2005 - Kernel 2.6.11.9 build 100 released
EzPlanet One endevours to release new Linux packages only when they are well tested and if there are real significant improvements on the previous release. The release of kernel 2.6.11 (www.kernel.org) did not start under the best auspices, because it soon went through several bug fixes up to patchlevel 9. So far we have not found improvements that are significant enough to justify a main stream release. However to satisfy those who like to play with new hardware and like the latest tweaks, we are releasing our first stable build in the EzPlanet One development stream: http://ftp.ezplanetone.com/pub/development/2.0/i386/RPMS. For those who use vmware, this kernel breaks compatibility with their drivers; a "vmware-any-any-update" can be downloaded from http://platan.vc.cvut.cz/ftp/pub/vmware.
15 April 2005 - EzPlanet One Linux 2.0 SB2
EzPlanet One Madesimo 2.0 Service Build 2 is now available for download here. The torrent download includes ISO CD image files (1-4) and the md5sum checksum file. Several updates including xorg-x11 6.8.2; Apache HTTPD 2.0.53 (now including also mod_jk-ap20); postgresql 8.0.1; squirrelmail 1.4.4; subversion 1.1.4; thunderbird 1.0.2; yum 2.2.0; and more.
9 April 2005 - kernel 2.6.10 build 790 released
Linux kernel 2.6.10-790 has been released in the update stream. The configuration has been optimized for performance and the Intel Pro wireless drivers have been updated. The kernel package does not contain the Intel Pro (2100 and 2200) firmware for license reasons. Intel Pro wireless 2100 firmware can be downloaded from http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net. Intel Pro wireless 2200 firmware can be downloaded from http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net
5 April 2005 - EzPlanet One Linux 2.0 SP2 now shipping
SP2 includes all the patches released so far. It can be purchased here.
1 April 2005 - Several updates released
Linux kernel 2.6.10-780 has been released in the update stream. This release includes ndiswrapper driver 1.1. Other updates include Evolution 2.0.4, Firefox 1.0.2, Mozilla 1.7.6; these should keep our network busy for a while.
28 March 2005 - Linux kernel 2.6.10 released
Linux kernel 2.6.10-775 has been released in the update stream. This release includes ndiswrapper driver 1.0. We continue working on kernel 2.6.11, however several patches have been released recently for this latest kernel and it wil take some time to verify its stability.
20 March 2005 - Linux kernel 2.6.10
Linux kernel 2.6.10 has been available since December 2004 however we have not released an update in the main stream for the following reasons:
- i2c sensors drivers have been changed and no longer work on various hardware platforms (see kernel bug 4014).
- kernel 2.6.9 is very stable. No negative feedback so far.
For those who may want to test 2.6.10, download is at http://ftp.ezplanetone.com/pub/test/2.0/i386/RPMS. This release also include the updated ndiswrapper driver 1.0 (it requires also ndiswrapper package 1.0), and an updated EzPlanet mouse driver patch (see kernel bug 2082) allowing resynchronization with KVM switches.
We are presently working on a kernel 2.6.11 package that is undergoing internal tests. Unfortunately in this release, the mouse driver has been messed up once again, and it will require further adaptation of the imps2 driver resync patch.
